Dual credit classes are classes that are for both college and high school credit. Students may sign up with their counselor or at the college admission's office. Northern New Mexico Community College and UNM-LA are both colleges that students can attend to gain dual credit.
To apply, students will need to fill out an application, review the course catalog, and register for the course. Applications are available in the counseling office and on the college's website.
Things to Keep in Mind:
The course is both college and high school credit, so the grade will appear on both transcripts.
Currently, dual credit classes are only counting as elective credit and will not substitute for a core class.
Students may only take one class if it is their first time taking a DC class with Northern. In subsequent semesters, students may take up to two courses.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Martinez.
There are also dual credit classes that are available at PVHS and are taken as electives in the regular school day. These classes include:
Word Processing
Marketing Management
Business Computer Applications
Welding
Electricity
Students may register for these classes at the time of course selection. The instructor will notify the students when it is time to apply for dual credit with the college.
