1. Watch “Endangered Palos Verdes Blue Butterfly” and consider how this butterfly’s lifecycle is dependent on local plants growing in a healthy environment. (2.5 minutes)

3. Naturalist Handbook- Read the Plant chapter (pages 32-35) Focus on pages 34-35 to be prepared for a Plant Identification Challenge during the clasroom session.

4. Be sure to have your completed Habitat Survey (Naturalist Handbook page 37) and Wildlife Survey (Naturalist Handbook page 38) ready for the class discussion.
Here is an Identification sheet that has pictures of all of the native plants described on pages 34-35 in your Nature Handbook. You can use these pictures to color in your Handbook, draw pictures of the plants that don't have illustrations or to simply get to know the plants better!
