Library News and Events

may is national pet month

As St. Francis of Assisi is the our Patron Saint of environment, animals, and birds, Its not surprising that the staff and students here love animals so much!.

May is national pet month, where for the whole month in the library we celebrate pets.

We have many pet books and also the digital pet library.

Aylesbury Ducks

Welcome to the Flock !!

What exciting days we are having here in the library.  We have a few new friends, that we welcomed on April 25th and 26th.    Our new friends are named Cletus, Cheese and Mac.  Aylesbury ducks are best known as the character Jemima Puddle-Duck from the Peter Rabbit Series by Beatrix Potter.   These beautiful, playful and happy birds will be in the library for the next week or so.

Silkie Chickens in the learning Commons

In late March  we were a very excited to welcome some baby chicks into the learning commons.    We incubated the chicks for 21 days in the library and were able to watch them hatch.

Each classroom is invited to get to learn more through hands on learning and information sharing about  Silkie chicken breeds.

Learning about animals can help promote several types learning, promote responsibility, foster empathy and create connections. For the past several years I have had various breeds of birds, ducks, quail and chickens, in the learning commons as I believe that the learning it provides is rewarding to both staff and students.
