No one is preparing students for the real-life, until now! Students in this one-semester class will learn about career choices, interview skills, money management, and more. Students will be exposed to a variety of technical, service, professional, vocational and other employment options.
They will learn about the job interview process, including how to prepare for interviews, building a smart resume, dressing properly and appropriately, and practice answering the tough questions.
Other aspects of real-life skills will be covered, such as developing basic office skills; managing their own money through budgeting; planning for a financial future; and, understanding the stock market. Students will also learn to make smart food choices and plan meals to make informed shopping decisions.
Class time will be spent learning various aspects of what adults handle and will include role-playing various scenarios. Professionals will be invited to speak with the class to discuss their experiences and impart knowledge.
Class projects will include a stock market game and career presentation by students. A Career Fair at the school will be organized for the students.
