Homework Policy

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday. Your child's Homework Planner should have the most up to date assignments listed and/or your child should have written down the homework each day during class when we go over it. We will go over completed assignments in class on the day it is due.

Homework is checked for completeness and timeliness and recorded on the report card in Study Skills section and comments. Homework grades are not averaged into subject area grades, but are designed to be practice, studying for tests & quizzes and home reading. Homework should not last more that 50-60 minutes daily. If it consistently takes your child longer than this, please contact me so we can discuss this and explore possible modifications.

WEEKLY CONSISTENT ASSIGNMENTS:

There are certain assignments that are constant. The following is a list of the assignments that you can usually expect weekly. There are times that this might change so it is important to check your child's planner for the most up to date assignments each night.

POLICY ON MISSING ASSIGNMENTS:

The consequence for not having completed homework ready at class time, is to do the homework. Students will be asked to come in at lunch time to complete the missing assignment(s).

ABSENCES:

Students are required to make up HOMEWORK that is missed while absent. One day for each day missed is the amount of makeup time allowed. After that, students will be required to complete the make up homework during lunch recess.

GRADED ASSIGNMENTS that are missed will not be sent home to be completed. Many times students and/or parents ask for work to be sent home prior to an extended, planned absence. I am happy to send home any Practice Worksheets, but GRADED ASSIGNMENTS are ALWAYS completed at school. Any graded assignments that are missed will need to be made up at school either during lunch recess or Silent Reading Time.
