AR

The purpose of AR is to enable powerful reading practice which results in successful encounters with text.

The most important factor in accelerated reading growth is comprehension. This is reflected in the "average percent correct" listed on a student's quiz performance.

Points are assigned to a book based primarily on its length (word count) not the number of pages in a book. The number of points a student earns tells how much reading a student has done. (time on task)

A student's ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development) is a reading range which represents the level of difficulty that is neither too hard nor too easy; it is a customized book level range based on results of a Star assessment.

STAR tests are computer adaptive, which means they adjust to each answer your child provides. Teachers analyze the data they get from STAR assessments to learn what students already know and what they are ready to learn next, monitor student growth, and determine which students may need additional help. STAR assessments are heavily researched and scientifically proven to help teachers personalize your child's practice.
