How old does a child need to be to register for preschool in Pennsville?

Students need to be 4 years old by Oct 1st, 2020 to enter Pre-K 4. 

Students need to be 3 years old by Oct 1st, 2020 for Pre-K 3.

Can a child attend preschool in Pennsville if they live out of district?

No, the program is only for Pennsville residents. Proof of residency will be required at the final registration process.

Will all students who complete the application process be selected? 

This will be determined by the amount of students who register. If we have more students register than seats available, we will then hold a lottery. Once seats are filled, interested families will be put on a waiting list.

Where is Preschool held?

Valley Park Elementary School and Penn Beach Elementary School hold our preschool classrooms

What is the start and end time?

Preschool hours are 9:10 am - 3:10 pm. 

Will my preschooler be able to ride the bus to and from school?

Yes, we are excited to be able to offer free busing for preschool students!

Is my child required to take the bus?

No. The school must be notified in writing if you would like your preschooler to be dropped off and picked up every day.

Will my child be eating lunch in the school cafeteria with older students?

No. Preschool students are offered breakfast and lunch for purchase and will eat in their classroom. If you do not want to purchase breakfast or lunch, that is fine.  You can feed your child prior to school and send in a lunch if preferred. 

Is my child required to nap?

The law requires rest time for all preschool children in a full-day preschool. Each child will have their own cot and time will be allotted for the children to either rest or nap during the rest period. A child who does not fall asleep may rest quietly on his or her cot until rest time is over. 

What are the class sizes in the preschool program?

There are a max of 15 students in each preschool classroom. There is one head teacher and one paraprofessional in each classroom.
