The college application process takes a lot of time and hard work, we are proud of our students and all they accomplish during their time at PSA and beyond.
Which Path is Right For You?
Having options when thinking about post High School is important, some of which include:
College or university.
Community or a Junior college.
Military.
Trade school.
Remember to take into consideration certain factors when deciding your path after High School, some of which include your: Interests, academic and athletic abilities, future goals, finances, and more. Having a plan is important and gives you the steps you need to succeed.
How Does PSA Help Support You?
College and Career Planning Seminar (Class)
Juniors are encouraged and often required to take this class junior year. This is where you set up your Common App account, workshop your college essay, and identify 5 colleges to apply to.
Junior Planning Meeting
The Counselor second semester sends an email to all Juniors asking them to sign up for a Junior meeting. This is the time where they will complete a college worksheet or go over post graduation plans. She will then help them with Common App and go over what they should be completing during the summer.
College Emails to Students
On average, the counselor sends about 2-3 college email reminders per week. This could be about deadlines, helpful resources, reminders about testing, and more. It is important for juniors, seniors, and PGs to be thoroughly reading her emails, often they miss key information if they do not.
Senior and PG Support
Seniors and PGs have a virtual calendar where they can sign up for a time slot to meet with the counselor. Once they sign up, this will send them email reminders about the appointment.
Application Materials
The counselor sends emails that outline and detail everything you need to submit in addition to your college application. Teachers on an individual basis will write letters of recommendation if asked. PSA offers the SAT twice a year for students to take. It is important that students are proactive in using the resources that are offered to them and put in the work.
