It's important for international students at PSA to understand that their requirements will be different when applying to universities and colleges. Most colleges do not offer Financial Aid to international students, but they may offer merit/academic scholarships based off of grades and GPA. Coaches at PSA can help with athletic recruitment and receiving offers from schools. If cost is important, this is something to take into consideration when applying to certain schools.
Language Proficiency Test (TOEFL or Duolingo - online tests)
Most schools accept either test. TOEFL can cost around $250 dollars and has to be scheduled in advance. Duolingo is about $60 and can be taken at any time. Check each college's individual website to be sure, but Duolingo is the easier option to fill this requirement. If you have been studying in the U.S. for 3-4 years, sometimes they will waive this requirement.
Evaluated, Certified, or Translated Transcript
Colleges will ask for all transcripts starting in Grade 9 and up. The transcripts need to be in English or certified. If they are not, the colleges will ask for them to be. InCred and SpanTran are websites where you can pay to have them certified.
Bank Statement, Financial Guarantee, or Sponsor
Schools want to be sure that you can pay your tuition and financially afford them. They will request a bank statement, which will have a minimum dollar amount they require for you or your family to have in the account. Any other financial forms they will provide for you to fill out.
Passport copy and I-20 documents
Colleges will ask that you send them copies of any VISA, Passport, and/or I-20 documents that you have. You can get your I-20 information from the PSA admissions team.
SAT and ACT (Mostly optional)
PSA usually offers the SAT twice a year, around September and March/April. This can be a tough test for those where English is not their first language. However, most schools are SAT optional meaning they do not need the SAT or ACT to make an admissions decision. It is good to try the SAT at least once, but remember the score doesn't need to be sent to some schools.
