SBIT Education Abroad is Going Places!
Have you ever wanted to travel to another country to learn more about people, culture, and business? International travel is exciting, but it is also a skill AND resume booster. Employers rate participation in a structured international travel experience as a significant factor that can help an applicant stand out from the crowd, and intercultural skills such as cross-cultural communication, fostering inclusive attitudes and approaches, and recognizing and honoring cultural differences are all skills employers rate as critical for college graduates.
SBIT offers Education Abroad opportunities to allow students to participate in the excitement and benefits of a global business experience, either virtually or in person. All participants also have the opportunity to earn the internationally-recognized AFS Global Competence Certificate and digital badge as part of their course.
There are several ways to participate, depending on the degree plan:
Undergraduate students on C-track may enroll in BU329: Exploring Global Competence, a 1-credit hour Education Abroad elective
MBA students may enroll in GB602: MBA Capstone-Global Option, a new alternative to the traditional MBA capstone course (GB601).
MBA and MSML students who would like to delve deeper into the study of Global Business may enroll in the four-course Global Business concentration. There are limited annual entry points, with new cohorts starting with GB525: Global Business Environment. Global Business students participate in a field experience during their final concentration course, GB528: Global Strategy.
SBIT Alumni OR IT graduate students enrolled in an eligible E-track program may enroll in GB529: Building Global Competence, a 1-credit hour Education Abroad elective.
In order to participate in an Education Abroad experience, applicants must have space for the course in their degree plan, be in good academic and financial standing, and have completed three terms at PG. There is an additional course fee for participation in a field experience.
Check out the PG Education Abroad Handbook for more details, including upcoming trip locations, dates, pricing, and policies, and contact PG Education Abroad with any questions about these opportunities.
