Update from HR: Merit Increases
We are in the final days of the performance appraisal process. Please remember to electronically sign your appraisal in Success Factors. Additional information on accessing your appraisal can be found here in Step 8.
We are now ready to shift our focus to the merit process. Purdue Global offers merit increases as a way to recognize and reward meritorious performance by employees. PG’s merit pool for FY25 is 3%.
Individual merit increases are not one size fits all – they should be differentiated based on performance, market position and internal equity. Generally, all full-time employees can be considered for a merit increase during the merit cycle with a few exceptions. Employees hired or who received a pay increase on or after March 4, 2024 are not eligible for a merit increase.

Purdue Global School of Nursing Celebrates Nurses Month
The Purdue Global School of Nursing will be celebrating Nurses Month with special activities throughout the month of May focused on innovation, advancement of nursing careers, and recognition of our incredible students, faculty and staff. “We are thrilled to have a wonderful line-up of events for this year’s Nurses Month that truly shine a light on the power of nurses to make an impact,” said Melissa Burdi, Dean and Vice President of the School of Nursing.
Nurses Week is Monday, May 6 - Sunday, May 12, and honors the birthday of Florence Nightingale (May 12), widely considered the founder of modern nursing. The American Nurses Association (ANA) theme for the 2024 Nurses Week is Nurses Make the Difference.
The Purdue Global School of Nursing’s Nurses Month 2024 events are listed below and found at this link. We hope to see you at one of our events!
Helping Nurses Benefit Their Patients – and Themselves
As a young girl growing up in the Chicago suburbs, Melissa Burdi saw how nurses cared for children with HIV and AIDS and decided she also wanted to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
“I wanted to be part of reshaping how we were delivering care,” Burdi recalls. “I wanted to be able to reach people’s lives in the way that those individuals had reached the children who were affected by HIV and AIDS. At that young moment, it was pretty defining for me, and it was a calling from there on out.”
But she couldn’t have imagined at the time the many ways she would be able to accomplish that goal.
Burdi has worked in a wide variety of roles within the health care industry, from a patient care technician to nurse to manager of her hospital’s cardiac care unit. She also has occupied senior leadership positions, both as a clinical nurse and as an academic administrator – including her current position as dean and vice president of the Purdue Global School of Nursing.
