Enter 2023 - 2024 Goals Into SuccessFactors
July is the time to enter your goals for the coming year into SuccessFactors. Your recent Performance Appraisal conversation should have already set the stage!
Focus on the highest priorities and the most impactful areas of your work. That typically means at least 3, but no more than 5 goals. Be clear about how you will know you have been successful.
Rank and weight your goals with your manager. Your work should naturally support the goals of your School or Department. Our collective work supports the PG Moves and drives the university forward.
Professional Development can be a way to learn new skills. It can also help sharpen skills you know are necessary to achieve current goals or accelerate future goals.
Much of our work is a set of core activities we engage in the spirit of continuous improvement. It is a foundation that allows us to embrace new and different challenges. Use goal setting as a way to refresh and refocus your work with your manager. And when changes happen, adjust your goals accordingly. You and your manager may change your goals at any time.

Twenty-nine Purdue Global faculty members were honored during an online pinning ceremony May 30 for earning a nationally recognized teaching credential co-endorsed by the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) and the American Council on Education (ACE). Faculty demonstrated their commitment to student success by completing the 25-week-long course Effective Online Teaching Practices to equip themselves with the instructional skills shown to promote student motivation, learning and persistence.

Their dedication serves as an excellent example of the Purdue Global commitment to continuous improvement of the teaching and learning experience,” said Judy Lewandowski, vice provost for adult teaching and learning. Call for Proposals: Reimagining Higher Education with Artificial Intelligence
A paradigm shift occurs at specific moments in time, and most experts believe we are in the early stages of one due to the unprecedented global proliferation of large language models. Since AI tools such as ChatGPT are infiltrating higher education, both research and teaching and learning across the disciplines must leverage this new world of human-machine convergence. The 2023 Purdue System-Wide Forum aims to debate the opportunities and challenges and think of strategic ways to lead the conversation on AI and its current and future trajectories.
In the spirit of reimagining higher education with AI, we invite proposals from faculty and administrators from across the Purdue University system who can showcase innovative applications of AI in higher education and offer critical reflections on the opportunities and challenges presented by AI. These online sessions will be 20 or 40 minutes long and are expected to:
Explore innovative applications of AI in curriculum design, teaching, and assessment that have the potential to facilitate knowledge creation and skill building.
Highlight the potential for AI to impact policies and standards in the administrative, teaching, and learning experiences of faculty and students.
Provide evidence-based insights that showcase the latest research and best practices in using AI to promote ethics, inclusivity, and diversity in higher education.
Encourage critical reflection on the opportunities and challenges presented by AI in reimagining the learning experience in higher education and identify strategies to address concerns related to the responsible use and development of AI.
Present attendees with interactive and engaging sessions that promote participant interaction and foster connections among a diverse group of educators, researchers, and industry professionals.
Submission Deadline: Submit a proposal by 5:00 pm ET on Friday, July 21st, 2023.
Elements of the submission include a Title, Contact Information, Brief bio, and Abstract (200-300) that addresses the appropriate bulleted points above.
All proposals will be blind-reviewed by the planning committee. All individuals submitting a proposal will be informed about decisions by the week of August 14, 2023.
If you have questions about the submission process, please contact connect@purdueglobal.edu.

Purdue Global Graduate Luke Peterson Enjoys the Challenges That Cybersecurity Presents
"It’s like you have a puzzle in front of you. You have to solve it with some code or some kind of tool. It’s always a challenge. That’s what I enjoy most about cybersecurity."
"The puzzle aspect of it is what got me interested when I took my first computer security class in college. And it’s what launched me into starting a master’s degree in cybersecurity management at Purdue Global in the fall of 2019, the same year I graduated from the University of Michigan in mechanical engineering." One of the most striking things about married couple Donna Cummings-Ripp (MS Management and Leadership – Information Technology ’23, Purdue Global) and Joe Ripp (Master’s of Business Administration ’23, Purdue Global) is how proud they are of one another.
As they anticipated walking the stage together to receive their Purdue Global degrees, they recalled what it was like pursuing degrees at the same time while also juggling full-time jobs and multiple side gigs, and how the life ahead of them made it all worth it. Read more about Donna and Joe.
