GetSet is designed to facilitate student relationships and networks by allowing them to identify personal and academic characteristics that they share with other PG students. Writing prompts based on a proven curriculum help guide the conversation. Students have the option to use GetSet as a discussion tool or as a personal journal to document their personal development.

Students who use GetSet are more likely to:

What is GetSet?

The GetSet Community is the premiere online community for Purdue Global students that enables students to engage with their peers about topics most meaningful to them. Students choose from a broad list of personal and academic characteristics to identify themselves and to connect themselves with others of like identities.

GetSet provides a hidden growth mindset curriculum through its series of writing prompts. Students are able to choose whether they want their response to the prompt to be public or private, allowing them to use GetSet as both a communication tool and a personal journaling site.

Who should use GetSet?

GetSet is designed for all students to use as a place for community building, relationship development, and interpersonal support. No faculty or staff are given accounts on GetSet, with the exception of Student Success staff who can only access data analysis tools.

How does PG use GetSet to support student success?

GetSet creates a real-time aggregate of trending topics and posting activity that is reviewed by Student Success Coaches. The coaches can use this data to inform both focused and broad student success initiatives in a more timely and relevant manner than previously available. 

How does PG use GetSet to support student success?

GetSet creates a real-time aggregate of trending topics and posting activity that is reviewed by Student Success Coaches. The coaches can use this data to inform both focused and broad student success initiatives in a more timely and relevant manner than previously available. 

Is the content on GetSet monitored or moderated?

GetSet uses a list of monitored terms to generate content alerts, which are reviewed by Student Success Coaches and then either dismissed or forwarded for further review. These terms include a variety of categories of concern, from violence to explicit content to racial epithets to self-harm and more. Student Success Coaches are trained in responding to posts that use unacceptable language, as well as in parameters for allowing content that refers to these topics in healthy ways.

Are there responsibilities for faculty related to GetSet?

No! Faculty are encouraged to invite their students to join the GetSet Community, but faculty do not have any additional responsibilities related to GetSet. In fact, faculty aren't even able to access the community! It is truly for students, from students.
