Our studio rooms in the Pukui Learning Commons are designed for active group work, presentation prep, and group study sessions. To keep these spaces running smoothly and fair for everyone, please take a moment to review our house rules before booking.
There are four collaborative studios available to be reserved between the hours of 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. The Teal, Buff and Green Studios are available for student reservations. The Blue Studio is only available for faculty and staff use.
Who can book:
Students: Teal, Buff, and Green Studios
Faculty and Staff: Blue Studio
Booking Window: Reservations are available up to 3 days in advance.
Booking Limits: An individual may reserve a studio up to 1 hour per day (split into two 30-minute blocks).
Keep It Academic: These rooms are active study spaces, not hangout spots. When booking, you'll be asked to select the reason for your reservation (group project, test prep, etc.). No individual users are allowed. *Faculty/Staff may use the room for sub-department meetings, professional development, etc. Meetings with students should be held in your office.
5-Minute Grace Period: The person who made the booking must check in with a Learning Commons staff member within 5 minutes of your start time, and your whole group needs to be there at check-in. If anyone in the group is more than 5 minutes late, the room will be released to others.
Max Group Size: Up to 5 people at a time. Only the people listed on the reservation are allowed in the studio.
Group Check-In: All attendees will need to be present at check in and show their ID card (photos of an ID will not be accepted) upon arrival.
Responsibility: The person who reserved the room is responsible for communicating the rules to all attendees. Everyone in the room is expected to abide by all rules.
Changes to Reservations: Once the reservation is submitted, changes are not allowed. We cannot change/add people to reservations.
Keep it reasonable: The rooms aren't fully soundproof, so please keep talking at a conversational volume.
Drinks only: Covered drinks are fine, but please leave food and canned drinks outside.
Stay focused: No cell phone should be used inside the studios.
Stay visible: Window shades must remain rolled up at all times.
Basic expectations: Please stay seated in chairs (no lying or sitting on the floor).
No Telehealth: Because these rooms aren't private/soundproof, telehealth appointments aren't allowed here for your own privacy.
College Interviews and Meetings: See the College Counseling office for a space.
Each studio comes with a TV screen, Webex connectivity, and a whiteboard. Pukui staff can help you connect your device to the TV.
Before your time runs out, please take a minute to:
Erase the whiteboard completely.
Push in all chairs.
Throw away your trash and remove personal items.
Note: Allowing others not on the reservation in the room, ignoring the abovementioned rules, or leaving a mess will result in an immediate end to your session and a 1-week booking suspension for everyone in the group.
By making a reservation, you agree to the abovementioned rules.
