Winter traditions are very common, and most are celebrated like Christmas-a very well-known holiday that everybody loves and celebrates the way they want to. There are no rules on how you should celebrate this holiday. Some other winter traditions are: Hanukkah, Chinese New Year, Krampus, Kwanzaa, and other traditions. Some of these you might not know of but they are all celebrated around the world. Some of these observances might be celebrated differently such as Kwanzaa. For a change this holiday is celebrated for 7 days and it's because it celebrates the African American Culture and it's history.
Some more facts about Kwanzaa is that it was first celebrated in the 1960s, the celebration includes dancing, storytelling, poetry, and African drumming and feasting. The name Kwanzaa comes from the phrase matunda ya kwanza, which means "first fruits" in Swahili. Another winter tradition that you may or may not know about it Chinese New Year. Some facts about Chinese New Year is that, unlike Kwanzaa, it is celebrated for 16 days although only 7 days are considered the holiday. According to an old legend, there was once a monster named Nian. They say it would come every New Years Eve, because of that, most people would hide in their homes. But one boy went to scare the monster off with firecrackers, the day after people celebrated their survival by setting out more firecrackers.
