Foresthill High School

Course Preview Day

Hello Foresthill Scholars!  It is time to select your classes for next year!

The goal of this website is to provide you with an opportunity to gain valuable information about the courses you are interested in taking during the 2024-2025 school year.

Please take a look at videos for classes that you are interested in- all "non-required" courses are posted with videos or a course description.

The Navigation Bar is on the top right of each page. You can also navigate by using the black buttons toward the top of this page. Also, the Course Catalog for 2024-2025 is posted on every page if you want to take a look at all the info available to you. Visit the "Resource" Page to see Graduation Requirements, A-G Requirements, Seal of Biliteracy and Valedictorian Criteria, Course Selections Sheets, etc.

All 9th-11th graders will be inputting courses into Aeries on February 27. 11th graders are expected to take at least one pathway course and complete a pathway by graduation!

When weighing course selection for the upcoming year, you should ask yourself these questions:

Here are some terms and codes that you will need to know:

DE= Dual Enrollment You will earn college credit and high school credit at the same time. Some DE classes may give you a "grade bump." This gives you a head start on college or trade school and will give you a competitive edge in college admissions or even employment.

Grade Bump= Weighted Course AP, Honors, and some DE classes are weighted, which means that a B affects your GPA like an A would, a C is like a B, and so forth. Doing well in a weighted course is a great way to improve your GPA.

AP= Advanced Placement AP courses are challenging and weighted. You have the option to take a test at the end to earn college credit for the course. Taking AP courses in high school help prepare you for more rigorous college coursework. They give you an advantage with college admissions, as well.

Prerequisite= A required course that must be taken before taking a course. Example: Spanish 2 is a prerequisite for Spanish 3.

Suggestion: Use your Student Portfolio to map your classes and track your progress!
