Early Childhood Development ( 8039) & Intro to Elementary Education DE (8039DE)
Early Child Development:
One highlight of the course is: raising virtual children and caring for the Realcare Babies.
This course is great for a student who: wants to learn about human development as it pertains to young children and may be interested in a childcare field. Can also earn college credit.
One thing you should know about this course is: it is the first class in the education pathway but focuses more on development physically, emotionally, and cognitively (how we learn).
DE Elementary Education:
One highlight of the course is: working with children in a classroom at FDS. You will look forward to this each day you are at FDS.
This course is great for: any student wanting Dual Enrollment college credit and wants to explore deeper the profession of teaching.
One thing you should know about this course is: students get very attached to the elementary students in their classroom and the last day they are there in May can be very happy and sad all at once.

Honors Natural Resources Management (not offered in SY26-27) &
Fish and Wildlife Biology DE (3078DE). These courses are offered on alternating years.
Honors Natural Resources Management:
One highlight of the course is: there are a lot of field experiences and field trips.
The course is great for a student who: is interested in animals and nature.
One thing that you should know about the course is: it is Dual Enrollment through Butte College and it is a good third science class to take.

One highlight of these courses is: You can earn a good grade if you are willing to practice! No homework!
These courses are great for a student who: Wants to engage their senses in a different way during the school day.
One thing you should know about these courses is: You need one of these to graduate, but students generally take additional levels because they really enjoy my classes!
Wildland Fire DE (8421) & Emergency Medical Response (9426)
Wildland Fire:
One highlight of the course is: working with Cal Fire and Forest Service Firefighters.
The course is great for: a student that is interested in a fire fighting career or wants to explore the career.
One thing that you should know about the course is: that you can get all of the certifications needed to be hired as a wildland firefighter.
EMR:
One highlight of the course is: that you will get EMR certifications through Red Cross.
The course is great for: a student that has interests in becoming a paramedic or EMT or firefighter
One thing that you should know about the course is: that you will be tested on knowledge and hands-on skills
