Phaecelia: A friend to bees
What is that purple flower all over the school garden?
What is that purple flower all over the school garden?
Say hi to Phaecealia, which sounds like Fa-see-ya-la, one of my favorite plants in the garden. Phaecelia isn't for us to eat, it is here for our pollinators, especially bees and wasps. The bees love this flower because it has lots of nectar, and it helps bring more bees into the garden so they will pollinate all of the other flowers.
Remember that plants need their flowers to be pollinated so they can make seeds and fruit!
Can you find the honeybees in the left picture and the bumble bee in the right picture? Lots of bees love the phaecelia, so look for our pollinating friends next time you see this flower!
