Cover & Supervision

Cover

For both planned and unplanned absences email Jeff, Sarah, Joe, Sam, Nae and Kib as soon as you are aware of the absence.

In the case of illness, please email by 6:30 am.

All cover is being assigned through Engage and you receive a notification through the automated system when you are assigned. The cover assignment then shows on your timetable allowing you to access the attendance and lesson plan as you do your own.

The teacher being covered can see who is covering their class on their timetable. Please be sure a detailed lesson plan is on Engage for each class requiring cover.

  • GOOGLE CALENDAR: To help us avoid assigning cover when you have meetings, essential family commitments etc, you are asked to make your Google Calendar visible to all (just availability - not the details). Guidance and screencast forthcoming on Wednesday

  • A quick - but important - note about cover: how we can optimise this system to ensure that you are not set to cover classes when you are unavailable.

  • The instructions follow in this screencast, also in simple bullet points below. Essentially, you are being asked to make your availability visible to colleagues in Prem. If you follow the instructions below/in the video, your calendar availability will become visible. You can, of course, allow us to see the details of your appointments if you wish, but out of a respect for privacy, we are certainly not asking that you do so. We trust in your integrity and professionalism to just 'Calendar 'those meetings that are reasonable / support your optimal professionalism and well-being.

  • So, if you wish for your appointments/availability to be factored into cover-setting, please follow these simple instructions:

1) Make your Calendar visible as per instructions below / this video

2) Copy the available link into this spreadsheet (also modelled in the video)

(3 - optional - you may wish to include the link to your calendar in your email sign-off. This will make it easier for us all to schedule appointments/meetings at mutually convenient times. Also modelled in the video)

Prose-form Instructions to share your Public Calendar as per Google Support:

You can share your calendar with a link so that others can get your calendar in a web browser, Google Calendar, or another application.

  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.

  2. At the top right, click Settings Settings.

  3. Click the name of the calendar you want to share.

    • If you want people to subscribe to your calendar, click Access permissions Get shareable link.

    • If you want a link that doesn't require people to sign in or subscribe, click Integrate calendar and share the public link
