PTAA SCHOOL POLICY
School Day
Classes begin at 8:00 a.m. Regular attendance is expected of all PTAA students due to the rigor of our curriculum. Consistent school attendance is an essential component of each student’s education. Please help support your student’s positive school skills and habits by ensuring consistent, daily, on-time attendance.
Lost and Found
Please label your child’s property (e.g. navy blazers, tie, coats, jackets, sweaters gloves, backpacks, lunch boxes) Lost items which are turned in will be placed in the school’s lost and found located in the front office. Items not claimed by the end of each semester will be donated to charity.
Student Code of Conduct
Students are to observe the following Student Code of Conduct:
We will show respect for ourselves and others by:
Keeping our hands, feet and other objects to ourselves;
Not disrupting learning (including use of inappropriate language)
Listening and following directions;
Walking safely in the building; and
Arriving on time with necessary materials.
NO CELL PHONE usage of any kind during school hours
Problem Resolution
Below is a three-step process for addressing concerns:
Teacher and student confer. Most problems can and should be resolved between teacher and student.
Teacher and parent confer, with the child included if appropriate.
Teacher and parent confer, with the Dean or Principal.
Lost and Found
Always refer to the school parent- student handbook for more information:
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
Take Home Folders & Homework
Each night your child will bring home a take home folder. Each side will be marked for items to be left and home what needs to come right back to school. This is how I will communicate how your child's day has been and how they will receive homework.
Homework is sent home every Friday and due the following Monday.
Behavior Management and I Spy Mail:
We have 3 rules that will be use in our classroom to help things run smoothly. They are:
Follow directions Quickly and Quietly
Raise your Hand for permission to Speak and Leave your seat
Stay on task during class instruction & try your best
I believe in highlighting positive behaviors because all kids should be recognized for doing the right things and to help motivate all kids during the day, we will award students with I Spy Mail, which all students will receive when caught in the classroom or by any staff at PTAA for:
Staying Focus
Showing Respect
Being Honest
Having Integrity
Demonstrating Kindness
Parents will see a I Spy Mail attached to students folders when caught demonstrating excellence during the school day. However, sometimes, things don't always go as planned and kids will receive 15 minutes of recess detention on the playground to help them reset while still giving them the opportunity to finish their day on a positive note. They will have the opportunity to participate in 10 minutes of recess after their 15 minutes. Students will receive five conduct marks, noted on their desk before recess detention is given. Every day is a new day to start over and be the best version of ourselves. Yesterday's conduct marks DO NOT roll over to the NEW day.
