I am incredibly excited to begin a new chapter in my teaching career as I transition from 3rd grade to teaching 5th and 6th grade ELA and Humanities. While I will no longer be teaching many of the things that have been part of my 3rd-grade classroom, the experiences and values I have developed as an elementary teacher will continue to shape who I am as an educator.
This transition is especially meaningful to me because my bachelor’s degree is in English Literature. I have always been passionate about reading and exploring literature, particularly texts that allow students to step into different time periods, cultures, perspectives, and moments of historical significance. I am excited to bring that passion and my background in literature into the classroom and share it with students in meaningful and engaging ways.
I look forward to creating a classroom where students can develop a deeper appreciation for literature, strengthen their reading and writing skills, engage in thoughtful discussions, and make connections between the texts they read and the world around them. Teaching 5th and 6th grade ELA and Humanities gives me the opportunity to bring together my love of literature, history, and teaching in a way that feels incredibly exciting and authentic to who I am as an educator.
I am so excited for this next chapter and for the opportunity to bring my expertise, enthusiasm, and love of literature into the classroom.
