Why did you choose to study at the Palawan State University and enroll in a teacher education program? Enumerate your reasons (at least 3 each) for deciding to enroll:
a) at PSU for your college education; and
b) in an education-related degree at the College of Teacher Education.
I enrolled at Palawan State University because I believed that the institution provides quality education that allows me to develop as an individual. Most of the members of my family went to PSU and guarantee the education and services they offer. Another reason is that I was unsuccessful in being admitted to a university outside Palawan.
When I had to decide between being a teacher and psychologists, I figure I preferred having to teach that is why I entered BSED program. Secondary Education because I think I can handle high school students better than little kids. I have always believed that I will do well in tecahing career eventhough many people told me otherwise.
How does each of the University’s shared values are being (or can be) practiced and actualized in its internal and/or external environments, specially at the College of Teacher Education?
Excellence in Service
Quality Assurance
Unity in Diversity
Advocacy for Sustainable Development
Leadership by Example
Innovation
Transparency
Youth Empowerment
As a member of Palawan State University, I believe being a productive students allows me to actualize the shared values of the institution. Taking advantage of opportunities and service provided by the university such as efficient use of library, utilizing the classrooms for menaingful and productive learning, and participating in college-based and university-wide activities that boosts the relevance and appreciation of the shared values.
A teacher plays a significant role in the learners’ acquisition of knowledge and skills, and as a pre-service teacher, it is only vital that I must have an understanding of this obligation. I strive in being an effective communicator who inspires change, a critical thinker who is immersed on studies and fosters creativity, and most of all an individual who enriches own values to become a better person all in order to realize the duties and responsibilities of an educator. Thus, I aim to become an adept and competent teacher who engages in delivering quality teaching and facilitating wholesome learning to the Filipino youth. These all relate to the Palawan State University’s vision and mission in becoming a globally competitive institution that provides relevant and innovative education, productive opportunities, and undertakes research for lifelong learning and sustainable development. It also realizes the goal of the College of Teacher Education and the BSED Program objectives which entails similar purpose in honing outstanding pre-service teacher.
By the end of the course, I should be able to:
understand the concepts, theories, and principles in designing student-centered assessment using alternative methods;
devise performance assessment tools and its appropriate rubrics which helps in satisfying the target learning objectives;
develop assessment plan that measures learning through portfolio assessment;
develop assessment strategies that assess the affective outcomes of the learners; and
organize, analyze, interpret and present assessment data from alternative methods.
