A faculty-led freestanding program is an education abroad program consisting of a course or compilation of courses related to a theme or topic. 

Penn State faculty deliver, or facilitate delivery of, academic content, in its entirety, during the global experience. 

Programs typically lasts 3-8 weeks over the summer (if not a semester program) and typically offers 3-9 credits
