The Substitute Teaching License is issued to educators who have completed a teacher preparation program but do not hold a regular Oregon teaching license.
The Substitute Teaching License permits an educator to substitute teach in prekindergarten through grade 12 Oregon public school districts, education service districts, and charter school assignments to replace a teacher who is temporarily unable to work.
The Restricted Substitute Teaching License is issued to qualified individuals who hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, but have not completed a teacher preparation program.
The Restricted Substitute Teaching License permits a qualified individual to substitute teach in a prekindergarten through grade 12 Oregon public school district, education service districts, and charter school assignments.
Under the Restricted Substitute License you cannot work more than 10 consecutive days on the same assignment.
Submit an application.
The HR Manager will schedule a call with you to discuss next steps, including contacting references, and scheduling a time for you to meet with one of the Head Teachers.
If you were previously employed by a school district, or education provider, you will need to complete a disclosure release for the previous three school districts you were employed by.
Once approved to become a sub, you will be invited to complete new hire paperwork onsite with the Payroll Manager. If you are not currently licensed, you will also need to complete the steps in the following section.
You will be enrolled in SafeSchools so you can complete mandatory online trainings.
You will be added to our active sub contact list and you are ready to start subbing!
Go to Oregon TSPC (Teacher Standards and Practices Commission) website.
Create an account by clicking on the "eLicensing Application" tab (top right of the website).
Submit a Restricted Substitute Teaching License application through TSPC, and pay all fees.
PSKV will cover the cost of the fees for approved candidates. You can request reimbursement through Alaina Rain. As an alternative, you can complete the application at the office and we will pay the fees at the time of application.
Submit proof of Bachelors Degree - send Official transcripts directly to TSPC at: tspc.transcripts@tspc.oregon.gov
This application will require a sponsorship letter. Please contact Alaina Rain once you have completed your application and paid all fees.
You will be sent instructions, directly from TSPC, to complete fingerprinting for Criminal History Verification. Once you receive the results, forward them to Alaina Rain.
