"Empowering PSHS Educators: Aligning Pedagogy and Assessment for Meaningful Learning Outcomes"
NTC 2025
The National Teachers Convention (NTC) 2025 is crafted to empower Philippine Science High School (PSHS) educators with tools, strategies, and insights necessary to foster dynamic and effective learning environments. Rooted in the theme "Empowering PSHS Educators: Aligning Pedagogy and Assessment for Meaningful Learning Outcomes," this year’s Convention will emphasize the relationship between teaching methods and assessment practices to ensure that both are working in tandem to support measurable and meaningful student progress.
Throughout the Convention, participants will delve into approaches for aligning pedagogy with authentic assessment, exploring methodologies that not only evaluate content mastery but also cultivate critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The sessions aim to build educators' capacity to design learning experiences that are student-centered, data-informed, and outcomes-driven.
NTC 2025 offers valuable benefits for teachers and guidance counsellors by fostering a stronger alignment between pedagogy and assessment. Teachers will gain practical strategies to deliver data-informed, engaging instruction, while guidance counsellors will enhance their ability to use assessment data to support students' academic, social, and emotional well-being. This collaborative approach empowers educators to create a more holistic and responsive learning environment. As a result, students receive more personalized support, experience more meaningful learning, and are better equipped to make informed decisions about their academic and personal growth.
NATIONAL TEACHERS' CONVENTION OVER THE YEARS
The National Teachers' Convention (NTC) has played a crucial role in shaping the professional development of educators within the Philippine Science High School System (PSHSS). Established in 2017, the first-ever NTC was organized as a response to the curricular reforms introduced at that time. Recognizing the need to equip educators with the necessary knowledge and skills, all Grade 11 teachers were convened for an extensive capacity-building program to effectively implement the newly designed curriculum.
To ensure comprehensive training, participants were grouped according to their respective subject areas, allowing them to engage in content-specific workshops tailored to their disciplines. These intensive training sessions were facilitated by esteemed experts from leading educational institutions across the country. Beyond theoretical discussions, the convention fostered a collaborative environment where teachers actively participated in brainstorming sessions. These discussions provided a platform to refine instructional strategies, address potential challenges, and exchange best practices for delivering the revised curriculum effectively.
Following the success of the inaugural convention, the NTC has since become a staple in the PSHSS academic calendar. Each year, prior to the opening of the school year, a system-wide teacher training is conducted to ensure that educators remain at the forefront of pedagogical advancements. The NTC continues to evolve, incorporating new trends in education, emerging technologies, and innovative teaching methodologies to enhance the learning experience of students.
Through the years, the National Teachers' Convention has not only served as a venue for professional growth but also as a testament to the unwavering commitment of PSHSS educators to academic excellence. By fostering collaboration, continuous learning, and curriculum refinement, the NTC remains instrumental in strengthening the quality of science and mathematics education in the country.
