"Empowering PSHS Educators: Aligning Pedagogy and Assessment for Meaningful Learning Outcomes"
Charisse T. Reyes is an Assistant Professor and the current Dean of the Faculty of Education, University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU). She is handling courses in chemistry and science education at UPOU. Prior to joining UPOU, she served at the Institute of Chemistry, UP Los Baños where she taught courses in analytical and organic chemistry. Asst. Prof. Reyes’ research interests include learning design for technology-enhanced teaching and learning and inclusive education, open educational resources, and learning analytics. Her previous administrative duties at the Faculty of Education (as Faculty Secretary and Chair of the Associate in Arts and Bachelor of Education Studies programs) inspired her to pursue research interests in providing academic and administrative support for distance education students. Her contributions to the scholarship and literature in chemistry and science education include papers presented in discipline-based conferences, articles published in reputable international journals, and a book chapter. Currently, Asst. Prof. Reyes also partners with institutions for science and mathematics education to promote innovative curricular programs.
With the support of the DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship Program (RA 7687), Asst. Prof. Reyes completed her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (cum laude) at the Institute of Chemistry, the University of the Philippines Los Baños. She also completed her Master of Science in Chemistry from the same institution. She obtained her doctoral degree from the School of Chemistry, Monash University through the support of the Co-funded Monash Graduate Scholarship and the Monash Faculty of Science Dean’s International Postgraduate Research Scholarship Programs. She ranked 7th in the 2004 Chemist Licensure Examination. She is a member of national and international professional organizations of chemists, chemistry and science educators, and learning analytics researchers and scholars.
