Math Is Not A Spectators Sport!
You will only Succeed if you get off the sidelines and work to refine your skills.
Remember ... No one was born already knowing it all. I'm glad no one counted how many times I fell on my way to walking successfully. (I still stumble sometimes😉). But, without risking those first trial steps how would I ever have learned to run.
In this class I hope we will all be willing to take risks, hit some walls and create those ladders (or even rope swings) needed to climb over each obstacle in the way.
WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER!
When I am not at school I am a Mom of 4, keeping very busy running from one event to another. On the weekends I enjoy spending time with my husband and kids, kayaking, hiking, watching movies, playing games and doing puzzles.
I love learning. I have attended, probably far too many, years of schooling (I estimate 25ish years of being a student). I enjoy learning and pushing myself to new levels. I attended the University of Denver for both my Bachelors and my Masters, earning Dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Women's Studies and Digital Media Studies (i.e. 3D Animation & Web Design) and my Master's in Urban Education. I left school briefly, returning to earn a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from CSU with a focus around how to foster intrinsic motivation for middle school students in mathematics.
I love being a 6th grade math teacher. I have a passion for teaching middle school and working with students to improve their math skills. I taught my first group of Math students in 2004 and have been teaching at Timnath Middle High School since it opened in the Fall of 2022. I am very excited to be your Timnath math teacher.
