From Trash to Treasure Challenge

We are learning about “upcycling” as one solution to the plastic pollution problem.

Your Challenge!

To design an upcycled product out of something plastic that has been used before (e.g., plastic bottles or bottle caps, plastic bags, or disposable plastic containers).

Design an upcycled product out of a used plastic item. Criteria (desired features or outcomes for the product):

• Must be of higher value than the materials it is made of

• Must be fairly long-lasting (not single use only)

• Must be simple enough for someone else to make Constraints (limits on time and materials):

• Plastic materials are used, not new.

• Plastic materials must be cleaned before creating the product.
