Ms. Mickelson was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska but moved to Fort Collins in 2006 for the beautiful Colorado sunshine. She is turning 54 last fall, but please don't call her "old" even when she forgets things! Instead, she prefers her students call her "vintage." ;-)

Ms. Mickelson loves her handsome husband Joe, her cuddly pug Zelda and new pug puppy Louie, her delicious morning espresso, dark chocolate, stinky cheese and reading everything she can get her hands on. She loves experimenting with new recipes and dabbles with sewing, knitting, painting and creating mixed media art. Her first year as a teacher 28 years ago was with kindergartners, which she found terrifying! However, she has taught middle school for over 20 years of her 30 years of teaching and she loves teaching 6th graders the best!

Ms. Mickelson lived and taught overseas 20 years ago, but still speaks German fluently and enjoys sponsoring Foreign Language and Writing Clubs. She also loves including theatre into her English and Social Studies classes whenever she can. In case you couldn't tell, she is also a huge Snoopy fan!
