Independent Study begins with a conference.
You'll meet with Kate Stevens, the Talent Pool Coordinator. We talk about your vision, your goals, and then how we can challenge and grow your strengths.
Students will be supported in creating a plan and designing their own independent study. Sorta like creating your own syllabus -- but you will be supported in the process and coached throughout.
Credits possible varies with commitment and demonstrated outcomes. Each independent study potentially is unique and operates in an individual way, but all independent study students can expect:
Bi-weekly or weekly micro-class sessions
Once a month meet ups with other independent study students to share ideas and get feedback.
Student-created goals.
Flexible final creations.
The average independent study can expect to earn about 2.5 credits. More is possible, as is less.
Students can also decide what they want their time commitment to look like, and can make adjustments.
To start, message Stevens in Teams or send an email requesting more info and an appointment with your availability. Stevens' contact info: catheris@psdschools.org
Badging
Students can also demonstrate skills and proficiencies to earn badges they can display on resumes, digital professional social media sites like LinkedIn, and more. Look for the badges we offer soon and how you can earn one with their specific requirements.
