Intensive Teaching (IT): This instruction is used to teach your student vocabulary, language, and rote academic skills. Students are taught key units such as: household items, hygiene items, animals, community places, types of transportation, etc. We collect data based on how many cards/vocabulary items/rote skills the student mastered over the course of the year.
Natural Environment Teaching (NET): This instruction targets the key vocabulary words that the student has learned in IT to their everyday settings. In addition, we target their language skills by having them request items that they may need throughout their day (asking for school supplies, information, etc.) We collect data and help the students generalize these language skills into their grade level classrooms. This activity targets the growth of the student's foundational language skills and social skills.
Reinforcement: Reinforcement occurs when a behavior increases because of a consequence of either adding or subtracting something from the environment.Â
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA): Behavior analysis is a scientifically validated approach to understanding behavior and how it is affected by the enviroment. In this context, "behavior" refers to actions and skills. "Environment" includes any influence physical or social that might change or be changed by one's behavior.
