Ice Cream - I have no will power when it comes to ice cream. My first job was at Bresler's 31 Flavors.
Chai Tea Latte - I make my own decaf powder and get to splurge once a week on the real stuff. My favorites include Nature's Guru Sweetened Vanilla, Big Train Spicy Chai, Pi Chai (original) made right here in Frot Collins.
Dark Chocolate and Peanut Butter, especially when they are together!

Welcome to music at McGraw!

*I am Shelly Peterson, the music teacher at McGraw. I am so excited to work with McGraw students and help instill a lifelong love of music!

About Me:

I love music and I hope your student(s) does too! Whether it be dancing, moving, listening, playing musical instruments, video games and music, creating music, beatboxing, DJing, etc., I accept many views of music education. I was born in Des Moines, Iowa then went to college to earn a BA in Music at the University of Northern Iowa. I went to grad school at the University of Iowa and became a Board Certified Music Therapist (what is Music Therapy?). I earned my music education license in 2019 and began teaching the year that COVID hit. I am also a Music Will trained teacher and like to incorporate many different kinds of music and activities into my classes at McGraw.

I still practice music therapy on Mondays all day and Wednesdays after school in person session and via telehealth from my home office.

I am at McGraw teaching music on Tuesday - Friday.

3 Fun Facts about me:

With my husband, I have two children. The oldest is in college and studying Band Instrument Repair and plays the trumpet, and the youngest is a Junior at Rocky who plays Volleyball, Swims, plays the clarinet in band (and is a section leader), sings in the choir.
I have two bunnies that are siblings. Blizzard (has the spots on her face) and Thunder (doesn't have spots on his face). I have a bunny camera and sometimes share their live action (or napping) with students as a reward.
I like to hike, mountain bike, swim, do triathlons, read, and bake.
