UPCOMING DATES and REMINDERS: (From End of Year Business Letter):
PERSONAL HISTORY PROJECT: Personal History Projects are due by Thursday, May 14th. If your child was able to do this project and has finished it already, he/she can turn it in to Google Classroom. We will begin sharing one or two projects during our 10:00 meeting time starting the week of April 27th or May 4th, based on when projects are turned in. Remember this was an optional assignment.
VIRTUAL PIONEER DAY: Throughout the week of May 18-22 we will enjoy some activities related to early pioneer life in Colorado and one-room schoolhouses as part of our Fort Collins History study. On Wednesday, May 20th, we will dress in “pioneer clothing” if possible. Try this link for inspiration. (Lots of fun photos found here, so feel free to explore.) We will try to do some pioneer one-room schoolhouse activities virtually and have a “picnic on the prairie” that day.
WEEK OF MAY 25TH: No assignments or Google Meet scheduled this week. During the last week of May, no assignments or meetings will be scheduled. Lopez teachers have been told to keep this time open. At some point, we will return to Lopez and close our classrooms. There will likely be a day and time during this week for your child to come pick up his/her belongings and report card. These processes will be determined by Dr. Gile and the district and will be communicated when known. NOTHING HAS BEEN SCHEDULED YET AND I WILL LET YOU KNOW AS SOON AS I HAVE MORE INFORMATION.

My Personal Mission Statement: I will strive to be kind, grateful, and the change I want to see so that at the end of each day the world and I am a little bit better than yesterday.
My Professional Mission Statement:
I will strive everyday to build relationships that empower my students to grow, succeed, and become individuals who contribute to the world in positive ways.
This is a picture of me at the summit of my first 14er, Mount Democrat, last summer. I love hiking and exploring our amazing state with my friends and family (seen here with Dinger). I am a mom of 2 awesome kids, Grace and Isaac, and 2 sweet dogs, Scout and Lucy. My favorite foods are black beans, avocados, cheese, dark chocolate, and coffee. I am learning to become a highly effective person thanks to the Leader In Me and Covey's eight habits. Lately, I've been working really hard to master habit 5: Seek first to understand, then to be understood. I've been a teacher for a long time but I'm new to second grade this year. I have a lot to learn. I'm excited and expect I'll get a lot of habit practice! I am always learning and a definite work in progress.
