Our Learning

We are learning to spell & read words that have unique spelling patterns and occur less frequently.

ar and or making the er sound (lizard)
air sounds air, are, ear (pair, stair, wear)
ear sound (hear, year, fear)
alternative long a sounds ei, ey, eigh, aigh, ea (beige, they, neighbor, straight, great)
alternative long u sounds ew, ue, ou (few, continue, group)
ough making the long o sound & the aw sound (although, ought)

Last week we wrapped up our Fort Collins History unit by doing a walking tour of Old Town Fort Collins.

We are now working on subtracting within 1,000 using open number lines, mental math, & partial sums.

We are also introducing multiplication concepts to prepare us for 3rd grade!

We are working on making sure our sentences have a capital, punctuation mark, and make sense.

We are also writing our own narrative stories that have characters, setting, & a beginning, middle, and end.

We are done with our science curriculum for the year, but will do some fun science in May!!

We are learning about playing fairly on the playground.

We are learning a constructive process for working out differences that helps them avoid using aggression to solve playground problems.
