April 13 2nd and 3rd

I know it's cold outside, but hopefully you'll be able to get out for a little while. You can have a job. Search for nature items that you can use to create an artwork!

OR create a snow sculpture if you have alot of snow. Take a picture of your creations and send them to me at saconn@psdschools.org

Hannah and Naomi's painted rocks!

Mrs. Awsumb-Conn's painted faces below.

Nature activity 1

  1. While I know it is cold outside, spend a few minutes gathering rocks. Bring the rocks inside and rinse them off.

  2. Use paint to decorate the rocks. Acrylic/poster paints will last the longest and you can put your rocks outside, but you can paint them with watercolor paints or make your own colors, if you are going to keep the rocks inside. Here are some recipes for homemade paints: water and food coloring; unsweetened Koolaid and water; flour, water and food coloring

Share your creations with me so I can post it on the Student Gallery pages

If you only want to collect rocks, read this page below and design a rock sculpture inside or outside.

Nature activity 2

Find some stones and natural object around your yard and sort them.

Arrange them by color, texture and shape.

Take a photo of them or draw them on a piece of paper.

I collected and sorted different rocks and natural objects. I arranged them in a radial pattern. After I took a picture of my creation, I painted a picture that was inspired by the rock arrangement.
