MSOE: Middle School Outreach Ensembles with CSU Music Students
Honor Band, Honor Orchestra, Honor Choir Info 2025
Audition materials will be ready for distribution in early January. Students are expected to learn their material on their own or ask their teacher for help outside of class.
Nominations begin early January. Teachers nominate students they believe are advanced enough musicians and mature enough individuals to participate in an honor ensemble.
Auditions (recordings) are due beginning of March. Students record themselves playing their audition materials and submit to their teacher for approval before submitting to the selection committee.
There will be at least three rehearsals in March/April to work on the material with the rest of the ensemble.
Concerts are late March or early April. Updated dates and materials will be posted here when made available to the teacher.

It's okay to combine files to get your best scale and etude recording.
Scales and Etude should be in one file, not two

First Rehearsal: Wednesday, February 26th - 6:00 to 8:30pm @ Kinard Middle School
Second Rehearsal: Tuesday, March 11th - 6:00 to 8:30pm @ Kinard Middle School

Afternoon Rehearsal = 3:30 - 5:00pm
Dinner Break = 5:00 - 6:15pm
Evening Rehearsal = 6:15 - 8:30pm

Tickets go on sale through the Lincoln Center Box Office (www.lctix.com or 970-221-6730) later this week - TICKETS SELL OUT FAST!!!
Tickets are required for spectators, but not singers. Streaming options will also be available.
Call time for singers is 5:45pm - Singers should wear the uniform of their school choir
Doors open to the public at 6:30pm
Concert begins at 7:00pm
Honor Orchestra
Auditions are due February 28, 2025 by the end of the day.
They are "blind", meaning audio-only and no student voices should be recorded.
Directors and/or qualified assistants/volunteers may make the recordings.
Students should be prepared and should only make one recording for submission.
Please label each file as such: SCHOOL ABBREVIATION Instrument Audition number (ex. KIN Violin 7)
Please ensure students have committed to be present at all rehearsals before submitting their audition

Independent Musicians
Listen to each other and stay together in the music
Practice at home to learn their part independently
Take notes in their music to avoid making mistakes twice
Sectional Rehearsal Leaders
Play their instrument well
Know their part well
Can conduct and lead rehearsals
Listen and recognize issues
Keep the group focused during rehearsals
Section members are respectful of each other and their leader
Listen for instructions for when to start during rehearsal, don’t just begin playing immediately
