Parent Involvement
As the sole music teacher at CLPMS, I Wear many hats and have many responsibilities. If you have the interest and ability to help out with the music program, you are welcome. This Volunteer Form includes space for you to indicate your preferences and how you wish to get involved.
Here are some ways you can support your child who is interested in music:
Expose them to music: Let your child listen to a variety of music, including different genres and styles. You can also take them to live music events, like concerts and festivals.
Create a musical environment: Play music in your home and encourage your child to discuss what they hear.
Attend their performances: Show up to their concerts and recitals, and express your appreciation for their efforts.
Encourage singing: Singing can help your child develop their musical skills.
Make instruments together: You can make instruments at home with your child.
Choose an instrument wisely: Consider your child's age, size, and interests when choosing an instrument.
Read books about music: Reading books about music can help your child learn more about music.
Find a private music teacher: You can help your child find a music class or teacher.
Listen to music around your child: Listen to music with your child in the car, while they're cleaning their room, or whenever you can.
Show genuine interest: Ask your child about their practice sessions and listen to their stories.
Remind them of their progress: Remind your child that every great musician started somewhere and that they can achieve anything with dedication and perseverance.
