A mastery check aims to determine what students have understood from the material covered during our time in class, (typically done once every week or two) further, how well they can apply that knowledge to broader problems. A narrowly-focused mastery check might address whether students have met an individual learning objective for a course.
The Mastery check process:
Take the Mastery Check
Get your grade and if you are happy with it, stop here!
(They are typically 10-20 points)
If you don't like your grade, you may take a different one and Grade Replace.
You may ONLY do this at teacher designated times. Typically on Wednesday mornings.
If you still don't like your grade, you may create a "one pager" or equivalent discussing the topics you struggled with.
