Career Pathways & Courses

If you are interested in working in the health or biomedical fields, Pattonville offers two pathways for students to explore: the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program pathway and the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Biomedical pathway. There are also courses offered in different departments that explore areas in this Career Cluster. Learn about these and link to more information here in the PHS Course Catalog or in each section below. To learn about courses that can also provide college credit opportunities, see this link: College Credit Opportunities at PHS.

The Certified Nursing Program is for seniors who are interested in earning their CNA certification. Students take part in hands-on learning and complete clinicals in hospitals and nursing homes to prepare for the CNA exam.

Students in the PLTW Biomedical pathway can take a four-course sequence involving real-world health exploration. As seniors, students take part in a year-long research project investigating an issue of choice in the biomedical field.

Other electives of interest could include Human Anatomy (in Science), psychology courses (in Social Studies), or Introduction to Sports Medicine (in Physical Education).
