Biological Science made us understand the existence of different species on Earth from the smallest cell to the largest organism. In this semester, the Grade 11 Gen Bio 1 students are immersed in the world of the unseen. Despite the pandemic, we are able to explore and manipulate the Compound Light Microscope in our Biology Laboratory. We shall showcase the outputs of the Grade 11 STEM strand while discovering the domain of microscopy. Giving new perspectives about our basic unit of life by observing different cell specimens mounted and viewed by each student through the lenses of the microscope. These experiences reinforced our passion for the medical and biological fields of science. Join us as we make these the stepping stones for a better PSDian and a better Earth!
Studying the difference between plant and animal cells is a lot better when done with a microscope. A sample of a plant specimen from Allium cepa (onion bulb) and the human cheek cells which were collected and mounted by the students themselves are showcased in this section.
Microscopy is the examination of minute objects by means of a microscope, an instrument which provides an enlarged image of an object not visible with the naked eye. In this section, students were taught how to properly manipulate the microscope with speed and accuracy.
