October 2026
Thank you to all the families who came to our Meet the Staff event and provided valuable feedback for the start of our year. Families were asked two questions: What is going well? and What we could improve on? The responses were shared at our first School Council Meeting and will help inform our focus for the year. We will continue to have engagement opportunities throughout the year to ensure many voices are heard.
Social Media Use
As parents/gaurdians you are aware of the impact social media has on children's learning, relationships, and well-being. While it can be positive and build connection, it also brings challenges when not used responsibly. As a school, we are committed to guiding students, and we need parent support in monitoring and setting healthy boundaries. Please see the linked letter explaining how the school responds to negative social media interactions and resources to assist families in setting digital boundaries.
Parent/Teacher Interviews
Our first round of Parent/Teacher interviews will take place on October 27th (virtual) and 28th (in person). Sign up will be live on our website the week of October 12th. Please watch your email for a notice of when sign-up goes live.
We appreciate your feedback. Please call, make an appointment to meet, or send us an email - we would love to hear from you.

A gentle reminder to our school community that our playground, fields, and blacktop areas function as extensions of our classrooms during the school day. These spaces are utilized throughout the day for PE classes, recess, and outdoor learning initiatives. To ensure provincial safety standards under the Alberta Education Act, we must ensure that all adults on our grounds during school hours are authorized school staff or checked-in volunteers. We kindly ask that families, community members, and pets refrain from using the school playground and field areas between 8:45am - 4:00pm. Thank you so much for your cooperation and partnership in keeping our students safe and focused while they learn outdoors!

Exciting News!! Copperhaven is pleased to host another Book Fair this Fall! This is a wonderful way to support the school library as this is the biggest fundraiser of the year. The Book Fair will be held Monday, October 26 to Thursday, October 29. Students will get to browse and buy during their regular library blocks that week. We will also be open Tuesday and Wednesday evenings during Parent Teacher Interviews. Please watch for flyers coming home soon! - Mrs. Sykes, Copperhaven Librarian
Lunch Deliveries During the School Day
We understand mornings can be busy, and lunch is an important part of every student’s day. However, we are unable to accommodate third-party lunch deliveries (e.g. Skip the Dishes, DoorDash) to the school. These deliveries create substantial interruptions to the school day and place an added burden on our already busy office staff, who must stop their work to accept deliveries, locate students, and manage distribution.
To minimize disruptions and promote student responsibility, we ask that families do not send lunch orders through delivery services to the school. If a delivery does arrive, students will be required to eat their lunch in the office, and we will not be able to call them out of class early to pick it up.
If a student forgets their lunch, please know that our school has lunch options available to ensure no child goes hungry. We are happy to provide a simple, nutritious meal when needed. As part of encouraging independence and life skills, we also recommend supporting your child in learning how to prepare and pack their own lunches. This is a great step in building daily responsibility and healthy habits.
