Learning Ally

Learning Ally is a non-profit organization that maintains an extensive collection of human-read audiobooks with supportive text features. Learning Ally is a service that helps provide equitable access to the curriculum for eligible students.

Any student in the Public Schools of Brookline with a reading deficit, visual impairment, or other physical disability can gain access to the Learning Ally library. Literacy Specialists, Special Education Teachers, and ELA Classroom teachers can determine eligibility and enroll students in Learning Ally.

Getting Started

Log on from the Learning Ally Site

This method may work best for teachers in grades 6-12 who are not regular users of the Clever Portal.

Go to https://learningally.org/, select Login and use the option to "Log in through your school or district". Start typing and the district name will autofill. Then select "Continue". You'll pass through the Clever portal. If prompted, sign in with your @psbma.org username and password.

Access Learning Ally through the Clever Portal

Students and teachers access their Learning Ally accounts through their Clever dashboard using their PSBMA Google username and password. Clever can be accessed through https://www.psbma.org/ or at https://clever.com/.

The Learning Ally educator dashboard give teachers access to:

  • Add "My Students" to your educator portal dashboard

  • Assign audiobooks to students

  • Monitor student reading progress and/or educator data

  • Manage Audiobooks - the books you’ve assigned

  • Educator resources

Managing Students in Learning Ally

Once in the Learning Ally Dashboard, you'll be able to mark students as eligible, add them to your class, and assign books. The video on the right, courtesy of Campolindo High School, walks through the process.

BHS Staff Only

All BHS Students can have access to Learning Ally after a teacher has marked them as eligible.

Librarians and some other support staff at BHS have Learning Ally accounts. Those staff members can mark students as eligible and assign books. However, once a student is eligible, they can access any book and manage their own libraries.

Teachers can request a Learning Ally account by completing this Request Form: BHS Learning Ally Requests.
