Steps in the design process
Create something that will help solve a problem for someone with whom you live.
For example:
Problem:
Everyone is at home and needs a place to work or do homework. Your younger sister doesn't have room in her bedroom to work but all of her supplies are in her room. She has to go to her room every time she needs markers or paper, and now her materials are in different rooms in your apartment.
Solution:
You make a desk organizer for your sister so she has all her supplies to be able to work at the kitchen table.
Please let us know you're participating by completing this brief form.
1. Empathize - interview someone with whom you live and identify a problem they currently have.
2. Define - some solutions to their problem.
3. Ideate - sketch some designs for the solutions.
4. Prototype - make a prototype or model of the solution.
5. Test - have your person test the solution and let you know how it is helpful and how it could be a little better.
Gather materials over the next week or two that will help you to model and build your cardboard arcade game. Some ideas include:
* cardboard
* boxes - any size including shoe, shipping, and cereal
* tape
* scissors
* rubberbands
* toilet and paper towel tubes
* any size balls including marbles, golf balls, and plastic balls
We are having Google Meet checks in for you to brainstorm, ask questions, get ideas, and problem solve. We may assign you a time to check in to help manage the number of students during the hour.
