I hope you have had a restorative summer break. In late July my aging mom came for a visit from my hometown in Chicago, Illinois. We took walks and did some cooking. We visited Maine and went for a sail together. Mostly, I've been home enjoying lots of reading, warm weather workouts and a dinners on the deck with my family. This month my husband and I will drop off our youngest child for her first year at the University of Colorado. Our son is starting his third year at Denison University in Ohio. It will be very quiet at home without them.
As always, it is a bit sad to see summer come to a close, but I look forward to returning to teaching and learning with all of you. Third grade has three terrific science units: engineering and structures, life cycles and weather. Additionally, we will learn all about Massachusetts from long ago and today. We’ll read lots of books and articles and write everyday. We will add, subtract, multiply, divide and problem solve! Third graders work hard, but they also have fun.
The first day of school is Tuesday, September 2nd. All are welcome to a "Meet and Greet" to be held in the afternoon on Thursday, August 28th. Be on the lookout for more details from school leadership.
Below, you will find links to our school supply list, a parent survey and information about listening conferences to help us get ready for the school year.
I look forward to meeting you all very soon. Enjoy these final weeks of summer.
