What should you do if you don't know what to read next? How can you find a good book? You have several options...
1. Ask a librarian. If you are in need of a suggestion, feel free to email Ms. Seifert at julie_seifert@psbma.org.
2. Check out a book list:
Brookline's Best Books - This list is created by Librarians in the Brookline Public Schools and is updated every year. Books are grouped by age level and then by genre.
Reading Rockets - Reading Rockets has information on book award winners, new books, and more.
We Need Diverse Books - We Need Diverse Books is a grassroots organization that advocates for change in the publishing industry so that books reflect and honor all young people. Their website has lists of suggested books and more.
Indie Bound Kids' Next - One of Ms. Seifert's absolute favorite places to find new books! These lists come out four times a year and feature new books recommended by staff at independent bookstores.
Cambridge Public Library Book Lists - Another favorite. The CPL has book lists for kids and teens, often focused on a certain theme (i.e. social justice, voting, etc.)
New York Public Library Book Lists - Get ideas from one of the world's largest libraries!
Massachusetts Children's Book Awards - Every year, librarians and teachers in Massachusetts nominate about 20 middle grade books for the MCBA. This website has this year's picks as well as past picks. This is a great place to find books for middle graders (4th to 6th grade, approximately).
