Beginning Dance
This course is open to students in grades 9 through 12 and covers the fundamentals of a variety of dance techniques. Students are introduced to a variety of dance styles that include Modern, Jazz, Ballet, Tap, African and Latin. This class also includes exploration of movement through improvisation and creative movement problem solving (basic choreography). Development of different dance forms will be integrated into the class work and pieces. Students in this class will perform in the spring dance concert, Progressions.
We also offer Beginning Dance I-A for students who want to do a condensed half year version of the Beginning Dance.
While many students move on from Beginning Dance I and I-A to Intermediate Dance, students may take this course more than one time.
Both Beginning Dance and Beginning Dance I-A can also be taken for Wellness credit, except for in 9th grade.
