FAQs

Where is BrookMUN?

BrookMUN will be held at the main building of Brookline High School, on 115 Greenough St. in Brookline, MA. Delegates should enter the main doors to enter the atrium. (The ones under the part of the building that juts out and has a big clock on it.)

How much does BrookMUN cost?

BrookMUN May '24 is free!

Can I participate if I've never done MUN before?

Absolutely!  There are some special rules for how debate is structured, but all of those will be reviewed in all committees at the start of the conference.

If this will be your first MUN experience ever, we recommend the Novice committee, where the chairs will be able to spend more time reviewing procedures.

If you've participated in the weekly MUN club at your school, but this will be your first true conference, we encourage you to sign up for the intermediate conference but feel free to sign up for whichever committee seems most interesting!

Can I choose which country I represent?

Unfortunately, no.  Certain topics work best when particular nations are represented so to help ensure everyone has the most enjoyable experience possible. We will issue country and role assignments as registration forms are completed.

Do I need to wear "Western Business Attire?"

MUN conferences almost always take place with delegates wearing "western business attire." We understand not everyone has suits, slacks, or dress skirts at the ready. That's OK! Wear something that makes you feel polished and professional (but also comfortable).

Do I need to write a position paper?

Position papers are encouraged but not required. The secretariat will review position papers and give an award to the best ones. Please PRINT your papers and bring them to the conference on Saturday, May 11.

If you choose to write a position paper, please keep it to one typed page.

Can people observe the conference?

We welcome parents, family, and friends to join us for the opening and closing ceremonies; however, we ask that debate be for participating delegates only to help reinforce the simulation atmosphere.
