APA Guide

What is APA?

APA stands for American Psychological Association. APA is a common formatting style for papers and essays. APA Style has a specific format for in-text and reference list entries. Thus, APA 7 is the current edition.

A. GENERAL FORMAT

The reference section of the BAELS Thesis Manuscript shall follow the most recent American Psychological Association (APA) style of citation. The reference list shall be in alphabetical order. Generally, the following are the basic information included in each reference:

Author(s) name(s) in the order they appear in the source.
Publication date
Title of the source
Title of the book/journal/website the source comes from
Volume and issue number (journals, magazines, and newspapers)
Page numbers (except some online sources)
DOI number
URL for a website resource

F. In-text Citation

An in-text citation in APA Style explains to the reader where you received any information that didn't come from your own thoughts. This is more clear when you are directly quoting from a source, but it is also required when you have summarized or paraphrased a source, as well as when you have borrowed an idea from somewhere else. To avoid plagiarism, it is critical that you cite all words and ideas that you borrowed from somewhere else.
