Under Construction - Check back to connect to PARENT SQUARE!
We are seeking innovative educators dedicated to fostering a culture of high expectations and academic rigor where the focus shifts from simple "correctness" to the depth of the learning process. In our classrooms, you will empower students to master their own metacognition—modeling the critical skills of planning, monitoring, and evaluating their own work.
By embedding these routines into daily instruction and assessments, you will create a safe environment for intellectual risk-taking and deep self-reflection. Our teachers don't just deliver content; they co-design strategy menus that allow students to select and justify their own approaches, fostering true ownership and real-world reasoning skills. If you are ready to facilitate a learning environment where students routinely set goals, track their own progress, and evaluate their own effectiveness, we want you on our team.
Join a school community where storytelling is the heartbeat of our curriculum. We offer a unique, multidisciplinary ecosystem that seamlessly integrates English Language Arts (ELA), Theatre, and Broadcast Media to empower students as creators and community leaders.
We don’t just teach subjects; we produce media with a purpose. Our staff and students work collaboratively to curate and create original content for both our school and the broader Soundview Community, including:
Weekly News Broadcasts: Keeping our community informed and connected.
Original Webseries: Episodic narratives developed from the ground up.
Annual Feature Films: Professional-grade cinematic projects that showcase student talent.
Our pedagogy is rooted in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and deep thematic strands. By weaving these elements into our scripts and productions, we ensure that our art is more than just a performance—it is a visually impactful tool for self-expression and community advocacy.
We are looking for innovative educators who thrive at the intersection of technology and the humanities. If you are passionate about mentoring the next generation of writers, actors, and digital producers in a setting that values emotional intelligence as much as technical skill, you’ll find your home here.
We serve as a vital hub for the Soundview area of the South Bronx, offering a suite of services designed to empower our community:
Family Workshops & Resources: We host regular sessions on financial literacy, technology, and advocacy, ensuring parents have the tools they need to lead.
In-House Community Based Organization (CBO): Our dedicated CBO provides direct family and student services, offering a bridge to essential social and emotional support right on campus.
We provide the space and time for students to excel, whether they are catching up or leaping ahead:
Extended Learning: Our Academic Afterschool and Saturday School programs offer targeted intervention and enrichment to ensure every student masters their craft.
Growing Athletics: We are rapidly expanding our sports programs, fostering teamwork, resilience, and school spirit on the field and the court.
By integrating academic rigor with deep community care, we create an environment where students feel safe to take risks and families feel truly partnered in their child’s success. We aren't just a school—we are the heartbeat of the community.
Harvard Datawise Improvement Process School based Inquiry (Data Story) (Click to view!)
We utilize the Harvard Datawise process as a rigorous framework to examine and elevate student thinking across all grade levels. By treating metacognitive development as a measurable outcome, we move our community of practice from a focus on "correctness" to a deep investment in the process of learning.
Using the Datawise cycle, our staff analyzes student work and reflection data to move instruction through the 3.2 Teacher Practice Rubric levels:
From Emerging to Embedding: We transition from asking "How did you get that?" to consistently modeling planning, monitoring, and evaluating strategies.
Reaching for Excelling: We use data to co-design strategy menus with students, allowing them to select and justify their own approaches—a key indicator of both metacognitive mastery and Danielson 1e (Student Choice).
Our inquiry-based approach ensures that as teachers promote metacognitive talk and student-led justification, they are simultaneously hitting "Highly Effective" Danielson ratings. This process transforms the classroom into a space where:
Students set goals and track their own progress, fulfilling the requirements for Student Self-Assessment (Danielson 3d).
Instructional routines provide a safe place for intellectual risk-taking, empowering students to own their learning journey.
By grounding our professional development in the Datawise process, we ensure that every instructional shift is backed by evidence and aimed at creating independent, reflective learners
This commitment to excellence extends well beyond the classroom through our unique sports program. Designed to build discipline and grit, our athletics initiative kicks off before school, offering students a head start on their day. Supported by competitive district leagues, our program provides a high-stakes, real-world stage where student-athletes apply the same rigor and self-evaluation they use in their academic work.
