If families are opting into 100% remote learning, use this link to do so. https://www.nycenet.edu/surveys/learningpreference

IMPORTANT - ONLINE LEARNING

I want to thank everyone for being patient during this trying time. I need everyone to follow the steps provided below. You need to create an account with the DOE following the directions exactly. Then I will send an invitation to invite everyone to my Google Classroom account. I will send a code that will take them there when I invite them. Please do this immediately. Please Check Classtag

Please stay in contact with me through classtag. I will update you with any information that I have through this site.

Myon

The MYON reading website is a great resource for students to be reading and answering questions to keep up with their daily reading requirements and book reports. Each book has discussion questions and writing prompts and shows the amount of time spend reading. As you know, students should be reading a minimum of 40 minutes a day. This builds their comprehension, vocabulary, critical thinking skills as well as aids them in becoming a better writer. To access this site, please go to: www.myon.com

Your user name is your student id code and your password is 1 then the first two letters of your first name. My password would be 1wa as an example.

To My Students

To My Dear Students,

It is a bittersweet moment that I write this to you. Although I am happy school has closed to help stop the spread of this virus, I will truly miss being with you each day and seeing you learn and grow. We teachers are going in Tuesday thru Thursday to learn how to navigate through this with our students. I will have more information in the next few days.

You already can work on the math review packet I gave you on Friday and your writing journal and grammar packet. This would be a great time to catch up on work that you are aware of that is due.

I can say this for sure.... There are a few MAJOR things I NEED you to remember...

***you should be READING EVERY DAY for 40 minutes*** This is necessary for you to grow as readers, writers and critical thinkers.

LOOK for the math in the daily life. Make fractions out of the food or toys or laundry you are doing. Use dice to roll numbers to multiply or divide. Challenge yourself to work on your facts. Math is everywhere.

Write a daily journal about your experiences. This is not a normal experience and it would be a great opportunity for you to journal your thoughts and experiences during this process. Use the skills you already know to add sensory details and figurative language.

I will continue to update you as best I can as to how they want us to move forward I will keep you informed.

Know that you have all worked really hard over the last few months. I have seen your reading levels, critical thinking skills and writing talents grow. I want to provide you with every opportunity to continue that growth here. Please do not let your hard work go to waste. Video games are fun but you need a balance. This will be a whole new experience to work through but I have no doubt you all can get through it successfully. Together we will be ok.

Stay safe. Stay healthy. And stay in the growth mindset of learning daily. ❤️

Be safe!

Mr. Stark

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

I am sure that by now everyone has heard about NYC schools being closed for an extended period of time. This is unprecedented. First, I want to make sure everyone takes care of themselves. Our health is most important. I am going into school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to meet with the other teachers and decide how we will continue educating your children. As of right now, I am not sure what this will look like. You know me and know how much I love each and every one of your children and I will do what I can to continue their education. When I have more details, I will sent another message. Please pass this message onto others.

I am also asking that you send me a message back on classtag so that I know who is checking their mail and who is not. This might be the only way that we are able to communicate. If you did not sign up on classtag, here is my email address. Let me know... starkw@ps108q.com

If there is anything that I can do to help, please let me know.

Be safe,

Mr. Stark
